Lubricants

A lubricant can be used to improve glide and to enhance enjoyment when having sex, masturbating or using sex toys.

It is important to use a lubricant when having anal sex, since the anus does not become naturally moist in response to sexual arousal. You can put one or two drops of lubricant on the glans before putting on a condom.

When you use a lubricant together with a condom, it must be water-based or silicone-based or a mixture. Fat-based products such as oils, Vaseline or skin creams ruin the rubber and cause it to tear.

Water-based lubricants are absorbed and dry out after a while, whereas silicone-based lubricants are more durable and last longer. Some sex toys and dildos that are made of silicone are ruined and dissolved by silicone-based lubricants. You should instead use water-based lubricant with toys of this kind.

Lubricants can be perfumed or flavoured or contain substances that feel warm or cool. There are also lubricants that contain substances that increase blood flow while others have anaesthetic substances that can delay ejaculation.

If you are sensitive or have sensitive skin, it is advisable to use a silicone-based lubricant without any additives, as there will then be no risk of allergic reaction.
